Mr. Pouliot:

I am speaking to the point of order, and I shall continue speaking when I cease to hear strange noises across the aisle. Mr. Chairman, it is the easiest thing to understand; it is just as clear as spring water. Here we are discussing the clause in a bill concerning the appointment of the board of directors of the Canadian National Railways. I am referring to what has been said by Conservative leaders about the amalgamation of the railways. My hon. friend from Winnipeg North Centre-and if he is patient I shall satisfy him in full-

The hon. member for Winnipeg South may be a mind reader, but the hon. member for Winnipeg North Centre is not.

Canadian National Railways Therefore I have to explain to him. I wish to speak to members face to face so that they will not misunderstand my explanation.

Mr. Pouliot:

It is just as clear as spring water. And of course if the views of Senator Haig and Arthur Meighen, who is no longer a senator, and the late Mr. Beaubien, and others, had prevailed, there would be no directors needed for the Canadian National Railways, because the Canadian National Railways would be run by the C.P.R., or by friends of the C.P.R., as the hon. member for Winnipeg North Centre knows very well.

I challenge the hon. member for Winnipeg North Centre to say to his constituents that he is in favour of the amalgamation of the railways.
