Mr. Cardiff:

We are talking about agriculture in connection with this bill, and this is the only clause regarding which I have heard agriculture talked about since the debate started. If you want to get off this bill and raise this question in some other connection, I will sit down right now. I just want to warn the minister, as I warned him the other day, that if he does not accept some of the amendments that have been proposed, and if he insists on putting through this pension bill in the form it has right now, he is going to get into trouble.

Mr. Cardiff:

Mr. Chairman, I would like to impress upon the minister that unless he is agreeable to accepting some of the amendments proposed by the opposition, he and his government will find themselves in trouble before this bill gets into operation. If the bill as now presented is passed, it will increase unemployment in Canada by one third.
