Mr. P. V. Noble (Grey-Simcoe):

Mr. Speaker, may I direct my question to the Minister of Justice. In the interest of reducing the heavy losses of cattle in transit from the west to eastern feed lots, is it the intention of the minister to give favourable consideration to the request of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association for an extension of the 36-hour limit in the Criminal Code to 42 hours for rest periods during the movement of cattle by the railways? This would shorten the trip between Winnipeg and Toronto by approximately 18 to 20 hours.

Mr. P. V. Noble (Grey-Simcoe):

Mr. Speaker, I have a question for the Minister of National Defence. In view of the fact the Department of National Defence has stated it does not have sufficient competent staff to decontaminate the Meaford tank range, will the government give consideration to advertising for tenders from interested, qualified people outside the country to decontaminate the range?
