Mr. H. J. Murphy (Westmorland):

Mr. Speaker, I should like to direct a question to the Minister of National Revenue. Will the minister ask the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to arrange for the televising in the maritime provinces of the Yvon Durelle and Anthony boxing match to be held January 10 in the United States? Yvon Durelle is a New Brunswicker, and the people in the areas covered by television stations are most anxious to view this match.

How many persons were registered unemployed in (a) Prince Edward Island; (b) Charlottetown; (c) Summerside; on (i) December 1, 1956; (ii) December 1, 1957?

Answer by: Hon. Michael Starr (Minister of

Labour):

Offices of the unemployment insurance commission at Charlottetown and Summer-side serve the province of Prince Edward Island. Data on the number of persons registered for employment at these offices would represent the total number of persons so registered within the province. Such data are not available for December 1, 1957. However, at November 28, 1957, the number of persons registered for employment at each of these offices was as follows: -

Charlottetown 1,185

Summerside 751

On the corresponding date in 1956, the figures were as follows:

Charlottetown 1,127

Summerside 501
