Mr. BRASSET:
Mr. Speaker, this bill has reference to the province of Quebec and would require a petition to be filed in the judicial district wherein the debtor resides, such district to be as defined by the Quebec statutes. This bill would lessen the expenses of insolvents. For instance, at the present time the courts in Hull or in Montreal may accept a petition to declare insolvent a resident of Gaspe county, and that person is obliged to come to Hull or to Montreal in order to defend the petition. The purpose of this bill is to obviate that trouble and expense.
Motion agreed to and bill read the first time.
