Mr. ROBERT GARDINER (Medicine Hat) :

On the question of enlarging the powers of the Committee, I would emphasize the remarks of the hon. member for Bow River (Mr. Garland). We in western Canada are not asking for any voluntary wheat pool or any other system of marketing grains, except under such conditions as prevailed under the old Wheat Board. If the Committee has extra powers conferred upon it, I would suggest that it confine its activities, as far as possible, to looking into the question of a compulsory Wheat Board.
