Mr. McGee:

(a) Neither Mrs. E. L. Fraser nor Mrs. L. Lester were appointed to duties at the Dokis Indian day school. Mrs. E. L. Fraser was transferred from the Sagamook [Mr. MacEachen.l

Indian day school to the position of teacher counsellor with headquarters at North Bay on August 7, 1962 and continues in that position. Effective September 1, 1962, Mrs. Letitia Lester was transferred from the Knob Lake A.C. Indian day school to the position of teacher of an upgrading class conducted in North Bay and she is continuing in that position.

The programs conducted by Mrs. Fraser and Mrs. Lester are not carried out as part of the

program of a particular school. For accounting purposes, expenditures for these employees are charged against the Dokis Indian day school which is the one closest to North Bay.

(b) Mrs. E. L. Fraser's duties as teacher counsellor are:-

1. To assist the students with problems related to their school work.

2. To exercise general supervision of the students with respect to study hours, attendance problems, etc.

3. To act as liaison between the schools attended by the students, the homes and the department.

4. To assist in locating suitable homes for the students.

Mrs. L. Lester teaches an upgrading class of twelve Indian students from the northern Ontario region who left school before reaching an academic level which gave them the prerequisites for vocational training and employment.

(c) The monthly salary rate for Mrs. E. L. Fraser is $430 and gross salary payments from August 7 to October 31, 1962 were $1,255.27. The monthly salary rate for Mrs. L. Lester is $390 and her gross salary from September 1 to the end of October was $780.
