Hon. Francis Fox (Minister of Communications):
I am
informed by the National Film Board as follows:
The Government Film Commissioner is the final authority on whether or not a National Film Board production will be released for public viewing. It is useful to note that NFB films represent the work of one or more artists working to make the most effective film possible for a designated audience. The question of taste is recognized as a matter of individual perception and each film director as well as the Government Film Commissioner is careful to ensure accuracy of information while assuming that standards of good taste are observed.

Hon. Francis Fox (Minister of Communications):
I am
informed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as follows:
1. (a) Burton Kramer Associates Ltd., Graphic Design Consultants, 206 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
(b) The contract signed on June 27, 1973 with Burton Kramer Associates Limited called for the payment of $50,000 for the research, design and development of a symbol. The contract also called for assessment and application phases, the fees for which were to be based upon standard design office rates.
No accurate statement of the amounts paid under these later phases can now be provided since the accounts payable records for these related services, dated nine and ten years ago, are no longer in existence. The requirements of the relevant federal legislation which sets out the period of retention of such records, have been met.
