Mr. Richard Grise (Parliamentary Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Privy Council):
Mr. Speaker, first of all, I would like to clarify the statement by my colleague from Glengarry-Prescott-Russell (Mr. Boudria), who said that I was not at all willing to answer his request. What I meant, Mr. Speaker, is that I did not have the answer today, I did not have the information to give the Hon. Member for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell today. But at no time did I mean by that that I was unwilling to answer the Hon. Member for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell today. There is a difference and I would like to make that clear.
As for the complexity of the question ... I referred to the complexity of the Hon. Member's question yesterday yesterday and I come back to the Order Paper and Notices where his question reads, " ... the government, its agencies or Crown corporations". That takes in a great deal, Mr. Speaker.
Perhaps if the Hon. Member for Glengarry-Prescott- Russell could specify what Crown corporation he is referring to, the answer could be given more quickly. But when he talks about "investigating all Crown corporations", you can imagine, Mr. Speaker, that it would take more than 45 days to investigate and report to the Hon. Member.
So I suggest that the Hon. Member for Glengarry- Prescott-Russell clarify his question and in so doing, he would help the Government speed up the process of answering him or giving him the information.
