Mr. Bradley:

Most of the increase is due to the Department of National Defence, the work of which has been transferred to us. As a matter of fact we have added 21 new positions. The volume of work this branch has to do is growing from year to year.

Mr. Chairman, at the time

the estimates were prepared the department did not have its position sufficiently far advanced to make a recommendation for certain special plant and equipment which they required. This is an amount to cover that additional plant and equipment.
