1. The R.C.A.F. operates 3 air transport services all for its own use:

(a) West coast and north west staging route.

(b) To outlying stations of the east coast such as Gander and Goose Bay.

(c) From Ottawa to Moncton and Dartmouth.

From time to time other services have been suggested but have never been authorized.

They are utilized for the transportation of service personnel. They are also used as a training ground for overseas requirements of heavy transport aircrews which are expected to increase when the invasion army moves to Europe.

2. No. These services are strictly for the

use of the armed services.

3. The cost of the present services are:

Maintenance Capital (a) West coast and north

west staging route

$343,000 $661,000

(b) East coast 357,000 661,000

(c) Ottawa to Moncton

and Dartmouth 101,000 221,000

4. No present intention.

May 11, 1944

1. Yes.

2. No heating plant as such, was provided. All buildings were individually heated, including five hangars. Total cost of heating approximately $132,000.

3. Yes.

4. No. When the school was converted from an SFTS to a GRS, additional buildings were constructed and a small central heating plant was designed and installed to accommodate these new buildings. Provision was made in the new central plant to extend the system to inelude some of the original independently heated buildings if and when it became desirable to do so. Seven of these buildings are now being incorporated in the central steam system.

The heating units removed from these seven buildings are being used in heating other miscellaneous buildings in eastern air command.

The cost of the heating plant for new buildings 846,000.

The cost of extending the above to include seven original buildings $18,575.

An airman's leave period is not curtailed by reason of the fact that he gives some time to victory loan committees or to other patriotic services. His regular leave period is extended by the length of time given to such services.

April 27, 1944

1. No. The design of the uniform was changed but all tunics of the old design are still being issued for station wear. Each airwoman is issued with two blue uniforms. Since the change in design, one of old design, and one new has been issued. The old design is for station use, the new for walking out.

No uniforms have been discarded except after full period of wear.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Not applicable.
