Mr. Chairman, I am under the impression that you did not understand the meaning of my remark. There was certainly no intention on my part to try to pick a quarrel with the hon. member for Shefford, far from it. He asked a question to which I replied in a very friendly way, giving him at the same time a source of references. That is all. Let us leave it at that.

On the basis of the principle that the federal government is the "big brother" of all the provincial governments and that the latter are quite willing to accept its suggestions, I

would like to know whether the government would be prepared to have non-official discussions, for instance, during the federal-provincial meetings, with a view to suggesting to the provinces to co-operate in order to set a uniform legal age to take legal decisions, which would be most useful under the present circumstances.
