Mr. D. V. Pugh (Okanagan Boundary):

Mr. Speaker, I wish to direct a question to the Minister of Veterans Affairs. In view of his statement last Friday on the Woods committee study, would the minister now say whether he is prepared to table the document, and whether he will be making a statement on motions?

Hon. Roger Teillei (Minister of Veterans

Affairs): Mr. Speaker, I now have the report at hand, and I hope to be able to table it within the next day or so. As to making a statement, I think this would be premature. It is a very extensive report, and I would want a little more time before being prepared to speak on it.

Mr. Pugh:

As a supplementary question, in view of the fact that the minister has had this report in his hands for quite some time, at least in one language, I am wondering if he would not think it is in the interests of the veterans of the country, particularly because the Legion is going to hold its convention very shortly, that he should make a statement on this very important document.

Mr. D. V. Pugh (Okanagan Boundary):

supplementary question, Mr. Speaker. Will the Minister without Portfolio now assure the house that he is taking steps to see that shipping surcharges on exports are immediately reduced to their pre-strike amounts? The minister well knows of my interest in British Columbia fruit shipments off-shore, the surcharges that were placed on them and the troubles we have had since.
