He is surprised that men like myself who do not often address this House should get up and offer any criticism to items of this kind. The business of this House would be expedited if there were more members like myself and if they possessed a little particle of modesty.

Mr. CHISHOLM:

My only difficulty in , regard to this question is that all these repairs are required this spring. I called the attention of the Government to several works in my own county, when the general estimates were brought down, and I am surprised that the hon. gentleman from Annapolis did not protest then that these items were not contained in the main Estimates, because, if they had been in thosg estimates, there would be some hope of having the money spent this year.
