Mr. Gauthier (Porlneuf):
I am one of those who believe firmly that this session should have been a month shorter so we could go home and see our families and our electors. I therefore will not be very long, because I do not want to prolong the debate too much. However, there is one thing I do not understand after having listened to the speech just delivered by the hon. member for Lethbridge, and it is this. How is it that the C.B.C. should support lecturers advocating communist ideals on the one hand, and on the other hand be trying, on the shortwave, to go behind the iron curtain and impress upon the people behind the iron curtain that our way of living is better than communism? I do not understand how they could support those speaking on the air in Canada in favour of communism, and at the same time tell the people behind the iron curtain that our way of living or our political philosophy is better than theirs.
