I was going to suggest, as the matter is being discussed in the press and the country and also to some extent among the members, that it would be a good idea to get an expression of opinion upon this question from the present Speaker, and also from hon. gentlemen who who have been Speakers in the past.
It seems to me their opinion, as they know the conditions, would be better than the opinion of others. As I understood the remarks of the hon. leader of the Opposition, I think it would be a good thing to have the residence of the Speaker in the new House of Commons, unless there be some very serious objection. I rise to ask if the present Speaker would care to make any suggestion as to what he thought would be the proper arrangement.
