Mr. Hunter:

It took the Leader of the Opposition a long time to find out that under section 155 of the Companies Act the majority of directors had to be subjects of Her Majesty resident in Canada. First of all, he criticized the government very strongly for not providing it in the bill. But I understand the Leader of the Opposition has been out of the practice of law for many years and had forgotten the contents of part 3 of the federal Companies Act.

In conclusion I wish merely to say that this country and its citizens in the days to come are going to thank God for the Prime Minister of this country and for the Minister of Trade and Commerce.

Mr. Hunter:

This is a very large scheme. In fact it is so large that the people in that part of the house cannot even understand it. The Leader of the Opposition brought up a new slogan the other day. How did it go? "On guard for Canada." I should like to suggest a more apt slogan than that for the Tories: "Obstruction always; construction never."

As far as this marriage of convenience between this so-called Conservative group, the great reactionary group, and the socialists is concerned, it is going to be very interesting to see what the progeny will be. One thing

is sure. The C.C.F. had better take note that the Leader of the Opposition is so famous for his boners that they are making a terrible mistake in going near him.

I wonder where the Leader of the Opposition gets his ideas. I have often wondered that. I certainly know where he could have got this one, and that is straight from Moscow. I have a pamphlet which reads:

Stop, Look, Listen, Premier St. Laurent!

That is signed by Tim Buck. Everything in it is what the Leader of the Opposition has been talking about for the past two weeks. It is rather amusing that the Leader of the Opposition could fall for this communist propaganda. It is not only inept; it is ludicrous. It just shows where political expediency can land an unwary politician. Anti-Americanism as a political platform is a tawdry and sordid affair.

Mr. Hunter:

-we would be unworthy of our positions here if we spent the taxpayers' money on it. They keep on saying, "We have sold our birthright." The only thing we have sold to the Americans is some surplus gas. What do they want us to do with it? Should we burn it or cap it? It is absurd to say we are selling out to the Americans when we are selling surplus gas to the Americans. The Americans sold us large quantities of oil during the war. They did not cut it off. They let us have it because they are friends of ours.

I can read the section to the Leader of the Opposition if he wishes to relieve his ignorance. It is right here.

Mr. John Hunter (Parkdale):

I should like to direct a question to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. Is it true that the nephew of an Asian prime minister was deported, as is reported in the Globe and Mail today?
