Surely he cannot have followed the contestation of the St. .Tames election when he says there was no proof of corrupt practises except at one poll. If the hon. gentleman will read over the evidence he will find the clearest proof disclosed that the agent of Mr. Brunet, in poll No. 37, as to which the revelations were complete, stated to Mr. Bergeron's agent at the time he succeeded in obtaining the good graces of that young man, '.You need not mind acceding to my proposal, because we have carried out the same scheme in fifteen or eighteen polls.'
