Hon. P. J. A. CARDIN (Minister of Marine and Fisheries):

Answering a question put to me the other day regarding contemplated amendments to the Canada Shipping Act, I said that, as we had made up our minds to introduce next session a complete revision of the act, the government did not propose to bring down any amendments this year. In view of this decision we are hardly in a position to help the hon. member advance the bill he has on the order paper.
