Mr. LEWIS:

Does the government not
think it advisable to look over the situation and call a halt in the matter of great expenditures and future developments? I do not think the commerce of the country would suffer one io'ta if we cut out seven-tenths of the expenditure which we have been making; we would be in a much better position financially, and it would give a great *deal of hope to the Canadian people who are under a burden at the present time.
