5. Road was located through Dunnville and Welland for following reasons: 1st. Following practice of the provincial government of reaching county seats and larger centres of each county. 2nd. With object of connecting in future with an extension of the provincial system on the old Garrison road through townships of Bertie, Humberstone and Wainfleet to Fort Erie.
