Mr. A. K. MACLEAN:
The average pilot in the various pilotage districts of British Columbia receives |300 per month. I think they earn more than do pilots in other districts in Canada unless it be at Quebec and in the St. Lawrence district. In 1918, in the Victoria-Esquimalt pilotage district five pilots earned 315,131; in the Nanaimo district seven pilots earned $22,275, and in the Vancouver district nine pilots earned $27,360. The earnings in the several pilotage districts were more than sufficient to pay these pilots the remuneration which I have stated.
