Mr. John Manley (Ottawa South):
Madam Speaker, my question is for the Minister of Transport.
On Friday the Deputy Prime Minister would not commit the government to a prompt review of the decision of the National Transportation Agency regarding the Canadian Airlines/American Airlines transaction, hiding behind the law and the process.
May 31, 1993
This minister will know that under section 258 of the National Transportation Act that government has an obligation to review the transaction on public interest grounds.
Why will the government not state promptly whether or not it agrees with the decision of the National Transportation Agency so that this industry can begin to return to normal?
