Hon. Michael Wilson (Minister of Industry, Science and Technology and Minister for International TVade):
Madam Speaker, I responded in part to that question just two or three days ago to the hon. member's colleague from Prince George.
As my hon. friend knows this was the subject of the panel hearing. We supported the position that he has just expressed on behalf of the Government of British Columbia. We will continue to do so.
The panel itself did not rule that Canadian log export controls are a countervailable benefit. We will continue to work with the industry and the province to follow this through.
I should say that the finding only applies to log export measures that were examined in the countervailing duty investigation. It has no precedence in other investigations.
