Hon. John Wise (Minister of Agriculture):

Mr. Speaker, anyone with a knowledge and understanding of the importance of the agri-food industry in Canada would not be surprised by the negative effects on a whole variety of aspects of the Canadian economy.
The Minister in charge of the Canadian Wheat Board is in Winnipeg today meeting with the provincial Minister of Transport with respect to the Churchill issue. The Department is analyzing the report of the coalition. The Hon. Member will appreciate the fact that any decision that is made will have to be made in the interests of the coalition of the ports in all regions, Canadian farmers, and certainly in the interests of our grain customers.
