CON

John Douglas Hazen (Minister of Marine and Fisheries; Minister of the Naval Service)

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. HAZEN:

We asked for tenders. It is to take the place of a boat called the Lady of the Lake, which has been the Marine and Fisheries boat there. Not a single firm tendered. They considered that Lake Winnipeg was an out-of-the-way place, and they would have to build the boat largely here and set it up when they got it to the lake. Therefore we decided to build the boat ourselves in the Government yards at Sorel.
