Herbert Eser (Herb) Gray (Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce)

Hon. Herb Gray (Minister of Industry, Trade and Commerce):

Madam Speaker, I think that the hon. member's question, quoting the chairman of the Economic Council, confirms that we are doing exactly what the chairman said we should do, and that is to pursue a mix of policies of an appropriate nature. This, in fact, is the approach of the government. In the last budget the Minister of Finance pointed out how, as part of an effort to restrain the forces of inflation, we are following, for example, a policy of expenditure restraint. So I think that we are doing something quite consistent with the advice of the chairman of the Economic Council, and where there are further initiatives to be announced, my colleague, the Minister of Finance, will be very quick to announce them.
