PC

Walter David Baker (Official Opposition House Leader; Progressive Conservative Party House Leader)

Progressive Conservative

Mr. Baker (Grenville-Carleton):

Mr. Speaker, on the same point of order may 1 say that the hon. member for Prince Edward-Hastings (Mr. Hees) was really only clearing his throat as he approached the substance of his speech. I hope you would put the question again because there was a consultation with the Government whip, with the House Leader for the New Democratic Party, and with the House Leader of the Social Credit Party for the purpose of permitting this debate to continue for the reasons given by Mr. Speaker. I think that despite the results of the elections, which were not decided in this House except indirectly, it would be a matter of common courtesy on the point of order raised by my friend to allow this matter to go ahead.
