John Dowsley Reid

Conservative (1867-1942)

Mr. J. D. REID.

Now, this Mr. Moore forms a company called the Maritime Dredging Company. He purchased this dredge at Montreal in July, knowing that the very minute he purchased the dredge, all he had to do was to get it to Gaspereau. He had in his possession the instructions to take it there, and practically to do the work at his own price. The minister told the department that they were to give this contract to Mr. Moore, and of course they did. That means the Maritime Dredging Company. We would not have known what the Maritime Dredging Company was had we not learned from the Toronto 'Globe' and the Montreal 'Herald' that it and Mr. Moore are one and the same. The minister knows that before the tenders were advertised for the contract was let to Mr. Moore at the price that the lowest tender would be. Work was being done long before the tenders were received.
