Mr. Paul Yewchuk (Athabasca):

Mr. Speaker, I rise under Standing Order 43 to propose a motion dealing with a matter of urgent and pressing necessity, namely, the method of core funding of Indian organizations. It has been brought to my attention that offices of Indian organizations are experiencing great hardship and are in danger of having to close their doors because allocated funds are not being forwarded. Therefore I move, seconded by the hon. member for Vegreville (Mr. Mazankowski):
That the whole matter of funding of Indian organizations be referred to the Standing Committee on Indian Affairs and Northern Development for investigation and report.
