In view of the extremely difficult situation facing the footwear and textile industries in Canada which are unable to compete with massive imports, I move, seconded by the hon. member for Shefford (Mr. Rondeau):
That the problem of textile and footwear imports and their impact on our national industry, be referred forthwith to the standing committee of finance, trade and econdomic affairs, in order that efficient means could be devised to restore the competitive position of these Canadian industries and save the jobs they already provide to Canadians.
