Hon. Bryce Mackasey (Minister of Manpower and Immigration):
The only confidential information available under the Claimant Assistance Program is that provided to the guidance officers by claimants during CAP interviews. This information is not made available to any other branch of UIC. (a) In order that a realistic appraisal of a claimant's employment and related problems can be made, it is essential that the claimant be put at ease and have the utmost confidence in the guidance officer. To achieve this, he is assured that anything he may say will be held in the strictest confidence within the Claimant Assistance Branch, (b) By referral to a Canada Manpower Centre.
