Mr. Thomas S. Barnett (Comox-Alberni):

Mr. Speaker, I have a question for the Minister of Transport which arises in part from a report that what is described as the largest tanker ever to have visited the waters of the state of Washington has come to Esquimalt for propeller inspection after delivering oil to Cherry Point, Washington. Can he advise the House what steps are under way to establish shore-based navigational control systems in the Strait of Juan de Fuca and adjacent areas on the Pacific coast?
