The chief architect says there has been no fire in any of the public buildings except a very slight fire which occurred in my own office some months ago and which was immediately extinguished by means of the hose which was just outside the door. We have a very excellent fire apparatus in the buildings and there was no difficulty on that occasion in putting it out immediately.
