Mr. Caccia:

I am glad to report in reply that two months ago we were successful in stopping an attempt to sell those farms to private developers. At that time we hoped that legislation would come from the federal government permitting the acquisition of large tracts of land. If the amendments which the minister announced are approved when the bill comes before the house for third reading, they will provide an ideal opportunity to do something along the lines suggested by the hon. member, or something very similar to what he has in mind.
