March 17, 1909 (11th Parliament, 1st Session)

Robert Laird Borden (Leader of the Official Opposition)

Conservative (1867-1942)

I am asking purely for information because that is a subject I know absolutely nothing pf, and I would like to get some information about it.
I would like also a statement of all the indirect liabilities of Canada by way of guarantee or otherwise at the present time.
I would be glad also to have a statement of the results of any examination of the books of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Company by the government or any officer of the government made in connection with the proposal which the government contemplates submitting to the House.
I would like also information as to the number of miles actually completed; the number of miles under operation during construction, if that is the proper term; and generally, information as to how far the work has progressed upon both the prairie section and the mountain section in all aspects of the work.
I have observed question No. 1 upon the Order Paper standing in the name of the hon. member for Brandon (Mr. Sifton). As this question has been upon the Order Paper since the 26th day of January I presume the answer to it has been prepared, and if it be convenient to th4 government I would be glad if they could give us that information at the same time.
