RA

Joseph Adrien Henri Lambert

Ralliement Créditiste

Mr. Adrien Lamberi (Bellechasse):

Mr. Speaker, like the other members, I just took cognizance of the statement delivered by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Olson), concerning corn in the province of Ontario.
I should like to ask the parliamentary secretary to the hon. minister (Mr. Cote) whether similar steps have been taken in cooperation with the Quebec Agriculture Department authorities in order to find a solution to the same problem existing in that province. Corn growing in the province of Quebec is increasing from year to year and the Quebec producers are obviously more and more interested in getting subsidies from the federal government, through agreement. The problem lies obviously within the federal and provincial jurisdictions and concerns agriculture in the province of Quebec. Therefore, as a representative of the farmers in the eastern area of that province, I would suggest to the Parliamentary Secretary to the hon. Minister of Agriculture, if this has not been done yet, to enter into negotiations with the province of Quebec, for the benefit of the farmers in the eastern area of that province.
