Paul Theodore Hellyer (Minister of Transport)

Liberal

Mr. Hellyer:

We did have a meeting with the port council. They came to meet with the minister, as is customary when a new minister of transport is appointed. They raised a number of questions which are current in respect of the port of Montreal and the longer range question of possible participation of some kind in management. I assured them that this was one of the questions being studied by the department at the present time, as well as various other alternatives now evident and any others which might emerge for the best possible management of our port facilities in the years to come. We discussed the current labour situation.
