Mr. Knowles:

Mr. Speaker, the purpose of this bill is to amend the Canada Labour (Standards) Code with respect to the general holidays provided in that code. At the present time there are eight general holidays with pay each year. This bill would add a ninth, namely the first Monday in the month of August.
