On March 31, 1965, the Treasury Board authorized the Centennial Commission, in accordance with sections 9 (2) (c) and 9 (3) (b) of the Centennial of Canadian Confederation Act, to develop and administer a program of the performing arts and to charge the cost of the project (estimated at $3,300,000) to Secretary of State, Vote 30-"Centennial Commission Programs and projects of national significance including grants towards such programs and projects-Other Projects", of the Estimates for 1965-66 and subsequent fiscal years, subject to the provision of funds by Parliament.
