Mr. Speaker, I should like to put a question [Mr. Laing.l
to the Minister of Industry, but first of all, I am pleased to announce that the dean of the faculty of medicine of Quebec's Laval university is sitting in the gallery.
In connection with the reply he gave yesterday to the question asked by the hon. member for Winnipeg North concerning the Medical Research Council, is the minister aware that Dr. Frank Forward, director of scientific research with the privy council, stated recently that research funds are sufficient in Canada? If so, could he tell us whether such attitude reflects the new policy of the government in that respect?
