Hon. H. J. Robichaud (Minister of Fisheries):

I did receive representations this morning from the hon. Member, and later in the morning I received a telegram from the President of the Prince Edward Island Fisheries Federation requesting a further delay in the opening of the lobster fishing season. In my reply I stated that as part of the area designated as district 7B was now clear of ice and fishing was possible as from tomorrow morning, it was too late to consider such a request. Furthermore, the latest ice reports which I received a few minutes ago suggested the possibility of the ice moving out very quickly providing the wind is favourable. Therefore I had to turn down this request for a further postponement.
