There are 14 R.C.M. Police motorized ships of 20 feet over-all length or more stationed on the west coast as follows:

These vessels are used for the enforcement of the federal and provincial statutes in Pacific coastal waters, and in addition, as
floating police detachments in isolated areas not accessible to regular land detachments. They also provide transportation for police personnel where other means of transportation are not available. These vessels assist the Royal Canadian Air Force air search and rescue operations as required. They also render assistance to other government departments and, when required, transport seriously ill persons from isolated areas to hospital centres, if no other means of transportation are available.
