A thousand rifles were issued to the Mounted Police and 500 to the Marine and Fisheries Department, but none had been issued to the militia. The chief change is in the back sight so there is very little difficulty in placing the new sight upon the mark I rifle. I have a telegram saying that after the 1st July, rifles will be issued at the rate of from 100 to 150 a day.
