Hon. George C. Marler (Minister of Transport):

Mr. Speaker, yesterday the hon. member for Notre Dame de Grace suggested that the new terminal facilities at Dorval airport were substantially behind schedule owing to delays by subcontractors, and inquired what action was being taken in this regard.
There have in fact been no material delays on the part of subcontractors of which I have been aware, although due to the general shortage of steel the steel erection has taken longer than my officials expected. We have now reached the stage where the pouring of the concrete slab and concrete beam coverings will commence in the very near future. In the meantime the prime contractor for curtain wall construction has been proceeding with the fabrication of the curtain wall sections so these may be erected as soon as the concrete work referred to has been completed.
