The MINISTER OF MILITIA AND DEFENCE.

I have not seen the actual terms under which the grant is proposed to be given by the Ontario government, but I was told that it was only to be given to those who were actually engaged in the conflict. The medal is given, under the regulation, which we thought was fair, to all those who were engaged in any special or specific duty in connection with the defence of the country at that time. I fancy the scope of our regulation is wider than the terms of the grant of the Ontario government. Of course, I am only speaking from hearsay. This item is simply to make up a deficiency which Mr. MONK.
occurred in the vote for the current year through a misprint. The vote was $300 below what it has been for years owing to a typographical error.
House of Commons, $29,650.
