1. How many automobile accidents were reported in each of the provinces for the years 1950 to 1955?
2. How many of these involved damage claims in excess of $200?
Answer by: Mr. Dickey, Parliamentary
Assistant, for the Minister of Trade and
Commerce:
1 and 2. Motor vehicle traffic accidents are tabulated by, or for, the various provinces based on their individual legislation concerning the minimum reportable amount of property damage resulting from each accident. (See statement.)
As the result of a dominion-provincial conference held in December, 1954, all provinces have agreed that accidents should be based on a reportable minimum of $100 per accident.
Information concerning accidents involving damage claims in excess of $200 is not available.
