Hon. Brooke Claxton (Minister of National Defence):

Mr. Speaker, this morning I
received a report that a regular inspection of the ordnance stores at Gordon Head disclosed a shortage of something under $5,000 in extent over the period from January, 1951, to March, 1952. Because of the nature of the articles short, the matter was referred to the R.C.M.P. and city police by the local officers in order to ascertain if any offence
had been committed. There is no evidence as yet that any offence has been committed, but the matter is being looked into.
