James Arthur Ross

Progressive Conservative

Mr. J. A. Ross (Souris):

I should like to direct a question to the Acting Minister of National Revenue, although I believe it will concern also the Minister of Finance. Will consideration be given to the request of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce that contributions to the Manitoba flood relief fund be exempted from taxation over and above the five per cent now allowed corporations and the ten per cent allowed individuals? If I may be permitted a word, it has been estimated that $5 million, half of the proposed objective of the fund, can be raised by corporations within Ontario if they are allowed this exemption.
