1. Yes. The national employment service has a clearance system whereby vacancies that cannot be filled locally are notified to areas where there is a surplus of applicants for employment.

2. Total for all the maritime provinces, 7,740. Total from Nova Scotia included in above, 5,607.
3. The figures given are for all transfers. To show specific information as to where transferred would necessitate detailed examination of 7,740 records. Hansard, page 1283, of February 17, 1948, summarizes the movement. Some were transferred within the maritime provinces, most to Ontario but some to provinces of Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.
